Ana Ivanovic recently gave an interview to leading Russian sports website sports.ru… check it out…

How did you celebrate your birthday?
I had a nice dinner with family and friends. It was quiet and relaxed. In Belgrade last month we had a big party for my brother Milos, who turned 18. That was a lot of fun: there was live music, many people attended and it went on all night.

Is there any global problem which you care about? Do you have interests besides tennis and all the things which are connected with it?
Yes, I have many interests outside tennis! Concerning global problems, the cause closest to my heart is the welfare of children, which is why I became a UNICEF ambassador. I love spending time with kids, and I am very honoured to be part of the School Without Violence programme in Serbia, which is an awareness campaign about making schools safer.

We know you enjoy reading intellectual literature – does it help you in tournament battles? Or does it distract you from sports like it was with Nadia Petrova and Janko Tipsarevic when they read “Idiot” by Dostoyevskiy?
I would say that it has both helped and hindered! Some books, for example Paulo Coelho’s Warrior Of The Light, have helped with my mental approach to tennis, but then a couple of years ago I started reading a lot of psychology, especially Freud, and it became too much. I don’t know exactly what happened with Tipsarevic and Petrova, but it made me think too much about some things, so I stopped.
