Fed Cup Final: Serena Williams pulls out of USA Fed Cup Team

A few days ago it was announced that Serena Williams was going to play for the United States at the Fed Cup final, but we learned today that Williams, who is playing the semifinals in Doha, has pulled out of the team that will face Italy.

Apparently Williams informed Mary Joe Fernandez, U.S. Fed Cup captain, she won’t play in the November 7-8 matches.

Fernandez chose Vania King to replace Williams. Vania will join Melanie Oudin, Liezel Huber and Alexa Glatch.

The Italian Fed Cup team will have Flavia Pennetta, Francesca Schiavone, Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani playing for the title.
