Michelle Larcher de Brito was named the 2009 Portuguese Female Athlete of the Year at the 14th Gala do Desporto sponsored by the Confederação do Desporto de Portugal (CDP).
Larcher de Brito trains at the IMG Bollettieri Academy in Bradenton and since a very young age she has being making noise in the tennis world.
Michelle is just 16 years old and is ranked 115th in the WTA rankings.
She reached the third round of the 2009 French Open as a qualifier in her Grand Slam main draw debut, and advanced to the second round at Wimbledon.
She turned pro in February 2007 and achieved her best WTA Tour singles result in 2008 as a quarterfinalist at Tashkent.
