Kim Clijsters wins at Luxembourg Open

After winning the US Open title last September, Kim Clijsters is back on the tennis courts and she scored her first win.

Clijsters beat Meghann Shaughnessy 6-2, 6-2 to reach the second round of the Luxembourg Open.

Clijsters has won five times this tournament and is looking foward to take another title.

Caroline Wozniacki was forced to retired when leading Anne Kremer 7-5, 5-0. She received treatment for her left leg and back.

Kremer was a late replacement for Melanie Oudin, who withdrew hours before her first match because of illness.

Clijsters is also playing doubles with Kirsten Flipkens and in the opening round they beat Sarah Borwell and Raquel Kops-Jones 62 60.

“It’s fun and exciting to be back on court,” Clijsters told reporters on Monday after winning the doubles. “It took some time to adjust to the indoor court with the lights and the roof, but I’m happy to be here. It’s so much fun to play doubles before my singles. I really like playing here. I won my first tournament here 10 years ago and I love coming back. I like the club atmosphere, it makes it all so easy.”
